"Do you have a clue as to where was made the cup you drink from every morning?"

Manu Reva or ''bird in sky''

Why an exotic name for local products?
Poterie Manu Reva got its name from a dream comme true ... a beautiful sailboat named "Manu Reva" on which I sailed on as a teenager. I knew the name was tahitian, and because the whole scenery was so beautiful and perfect, I assumed "Manu Reva" meant "my dream" ("mon rêve" in French).
I made a promise to always associate that name with any future dreams I would come up with. Years later, in my late twenties, one of those dreams was to open a specialized pottery store with an adjacent studio , in Montreal, in the Mile-End district, the new neighbourhood I had landed in. So Poterie Manu Reva was born. It is only shortly later that several people informed me that Manu Reva means « bird » (manu) and « sky » (reva ), that it might be the name of a Tahitian god (unable to confirm that information) and that today it also means plane.
Poterie Manu Reva . is a long term project, it believes crafts is part of the cultural identity of a community and that it should be easily available for the local population, not just for the tourists. It offers a window for local potters, some of which are already well established and some of which are “young” ceramics graduates.
